Mark Ellis joins York City FC on loan from Barrow AFC

York City FC are welcomes experienced centre-back Mark Ellis on loan from Barrow AFC until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old brings with him a wealth of Football League and National League experience.

Ellis spent a period of this campaign on loan at Torquay United where he made nine consecutive Vanarama National League appearances between the end of November and January and chipped in with two goals.

After graduating to senior level at Bolton Wanderers, he has gone on to make over 400 senior appearances for the likes of Crewe Alexandra, Shrewsbury Town, Carlisle United, and Tranmere Rovers.

On capturing the defender, York City manager David Webb said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mark to York City on loan with us until the end of the season.

“He brings with him a wealth of playing experiences as well as great leadership qualities which will make him a great addition to the squad.”

 

The deal is subject to FA and National League approval.
