YORK City have released five players at the end of the 2022/23 Vanarama National League season.

  North Yorkshire Police say they are investigating a stabbing in Baker Street in Clifton, a terrace off Shipton Street and near Burton Stone Lane.

• JUGGLERS, fire eaters and stilt-walkers will form part of a festival set to bring a historic York street to life next weekend.

• ONE of York’s most unique hotels and restaurants is turning 40 this year.

  The Sidings Hotel and Restaurant at Shipton-by-Beningborough was founded in 1985 by railway enthusiast Bert Gemmell.

• A POPULAR retailer has opened its doors on a new location in York today (June 5).

  Bosses at discount retailer The Works say they have had their eye on a location for ‘some time’ now. The 1,700 sq ft store is in the former EE unit at Monks Cross - in between Regatta and Pizza Hut – and will be the fourth store in the city for the retailer.

• Work to develop York’s Coney Street and open the area up to the nearby riverside is due to start in the coming months, a director of the group behind the plans has said.

  Speaking to The Press, Max Reeves, development director at the Helmsley Group, said the York-based company is aiming to start work at the site in September.
