TWO main roads in York remain closed for a fourth day after a burst water main.

• A display of ‘mechanical veterans’ – military vehicles preserved by owners and enthusiasts - is underway in the centre of York today (April 13).

  The Yorkshire branch of the Military Vehicle Trust (MVT) is hosting one of the largest one-day gatherings of military vehicles in the UK in the Eye of York from 10.30am to 4pm.

  A man with a skin condition which is splitting the skin on his hands and feet leaving him with open sores and bleeding wounds says he was told he faced a 52-week wait to be referred toa specialist for a diagnosis at Selby Hospital.

• A “greedy” chess player has been jailed after he was caught with gold bullion bars and cocaine worth thousands of pounds.

  Lewis Stewart, 22, made at least £20,000 from his illegal drug dealing business and had nearly £35,000 in a safe at his home, York Crown Court heard.

• House prices are making homes in a York village increasingly unaffordable for young families, a resident who fears for its long-term viability has said.

  Anne Clark, a resident of Naburn for 24 years, said she worried high house prices may force her daughter and other families with children to move away.

• TWO drivers have been taken to hospital after a crash on a major road in North Yorkshire.

  The county's police force say they were called at 5.20pm on Tuesday (April 8) to the A19 near Bagby near Thirsk after a crash involving a white Citroen DS and a blue Kia Picanto.
