THE duo behind a string of York businesses have teamed up with the star of TV hit Happy Valley for a rather special project.

  North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say that at its height they had ten fire engines, a water bowser and an all terrain vehicle at the Strensall Common blaze which started at about 3.30pm at the site on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday (May 20).

• MORE than £3,200 has been raised by families from York, North and East Yorkshire for the city's special educational needs primary school following a major event.

  Hob Moor Oaks Academy in Green Lane in Acomb in the west of the city provides specialist education for youngsters aged between two and 11.

• A York mum who had her hands and feet amputated after developing a severe infection and being in a month-long coma has spoken about embracing her new life.

  Mandy Neal, 61, was rushed into York Hospital, put in an induced coma and placed on a ventilator at the end of 2023. She was diagnosed with pneumonia but also an infection - Strep A. The induced coma lasted the majority of January 2024.
