The boss of a York brewery which is closing today (Friday) says fans of his beer need not worry, pledging it will return after ‘a pause.’

Ainsty Ales is currently based at Acaster Malbis, at Manor Farm Buildings on Intake Lane.

Every Friday it hosts a taproom session at the agricultural venue, but today’s session, which typically includes street food, (Friday) will be the last from the site.

Managing Director Jon Greenwood told the Press: “We are closing today. Today is our last taproom day. Everything is going into container until we find another site.”

Ainsty Ales has posted on social media that it is auctioning brewing equipment, but Jon assures it is old equipment that is not suitable anymore.

He said: “It’s 11 years old. Production methods have changed. When we go again, we will buy more up-to-date equipment.”

As the Press recently reported Ainsty Ales has bought the Duke of York pub at Gate Helmsley, which has been closed since the pandemic.
