An application to change the use and refurbish the former Rainbow House Chinese takeaway at 8 Bishopthorpe Road has been submitted to City of York Council.
The application came from Ms Rebecca Hau, and the documents stated the changes to the ground floor would include the provision of a restaurant and bar.
The plans also said the first floor and attic would be converted from a one bedroom flat to a two-bed short-term holiday let.
In 2019, The Press reported on a fire which broke out at Rainbow House, which a fire service spokesperson said started in an oil fryer.
Planning documents said following the fire damage, the internal finishes were stripped back and the main roof was replaced.
The plans say the restaurant/bar would have two full time and two part time employees and would be be open Monday to Saturday from noon to 11pm, and Sunday from noon to 10pm.
A courtyard was included in the plans for the rear of the restaurant.
Consultation on the application is scheduled to end on February 12.
The application is on the City of York Council planning portal and can be read here.
