MEETINGS are being organised to discuss the impact of car park ticket price rises in York.

Three City of York Council opposition Liberal Democrat councillors - Paula Widdowson, Stephen Fenton and Ashley Mason have organised the series of sessions after recent public car park price hikes in the city.

Letters have gone out to businesses in the city centre asking them to attend one of three events being held over coming weeks. The first is for Bishopthorpe Road traders and is on Thursday, May 8 from 6-7pm at Patch (the former Bonding Warehouse) in Skeldergate.

The second is for church users in the Micklegate area and is on Monday, May 12 from 4.30-5.30pm at Priory Street Baptist Church and the third on May 12 is at the same location from 6-7pm and is for traders from Micklegate, East Parade, The Groves and Walmgate.

In the letter to traders Cllrs Widdowson, Fenton and Mason say: "We are acutely aware of the concern following the significant price increases to parking across the city.

"We are keen to meet with local traders and church users to understand the issues they are experiencing, the effects these increases are having and most importantly how we can craft a solution.

"If you are able to attend one of the meetings please RSVP to info@yorklibdems.org.uk
