York-based company Incremental was recently honoured with the prestigious King's Award for Enterprise 2024, in the Innovation category. The official presentation took place at West Offices in York, where Incremental’s offices are also located.

The award was presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs. Johanna Ropner, His Majesty The King's representative in the county. Also present was Mr. David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, and Cllr Pete Kilbane, Executive Member for Economy and Culture at City of York Council.

Receiving the award on behalf of Incremental were Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Lee-Bursnall, and Chief Technical Officer, Lewis Gill. Lewis, who co-founded the company alongside Dan eleven years ago, recently rejoined Incremental as CTO. The event was attended by Incremental staff, celebrating this significant achievement together.

This is the second time that Incremental have received this award, the first time being the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in 2019, also in the category of Innovation.

The Lord-Lieutenant said:

“It was a real pleasure to present Incremental with the King’s Award for Enterprise on behalf of His Majesty, King Charles III. This prestigious recognition reflects the company’s outstanding innovation and its significant contribution to the UK rail industry. Incremental represents the very best of Yorkshire’s talent and ambition - a business with local roots making a national and international impact. I congratulate the whole team on this well-deserved honour and look forward to seeing their continued success.”

CEO Dan Lee-Bursnall expressed his gratitude:

"We are grateful to His Majesty The King, Charles III, for awarding this accolade to Incremental; and to the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire for kindly presenting us with this award.  We would also like to thank the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, Mr. David Skaith, and Cllr. Pete Kilbane, Executive Member for Economy and Culture at City of York Council, for their kind attendance.

It is a real honour to represent the Incremental team for all the hard work that has been put in over the years. This award is a testament to the team’s collective dedication and innovation.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the City of York Council, for their unwavering support over the years."

Co-founder Lewis Gill shared his enthusiasm about rejoining the company at such a prestigious moment in the company’s history:

"Returning to Incremental feels like coming home. I am excited to contribute to our ongoing journey of innovation and excellence, and what a proud and apt moment to receive this award alongside Dan and team Incremental.  I’m looking forward to continuing our mission to serve the rail sector with the best innovations possible."
