EMERGENCY crews have been called in after a crash in a York suburb.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called out at 1am on Friday (February 7) after reports of a crash in Heworth.

A service spokesman said: “A crew from York responded to a request from the police to assist with a single vehicle road traffic collision involving an electric hybrid vehicle that was issuing smoke and leaking fuel.

“No people were trapped or injured in the collision. Crews arrived on scene, disconnected the battery and made the scene safe. They then left the incident with the police.”
