AN ANGRY trader has hit out at organisers of York's Christmas Market for not including him at this year's event after years of loyalty.
Thousands of visitors descend on York annually for the six-week festive fair which is organised by Make it York and City of York Council with stalls spread across Parliament Street, St Sampson's Square, and Coppergate.
But safety concerns, due to the sheer size of the crowds, have led to fewer chalets being offered this year to make it easier for people to get around.
Malcolm Lamb, of Rowallan Country Leather, was unsuccessful in securing a chalet despite having attended for eight years.
He said he was shocked by the decision - 'made for no good reason' - and 'disgusted' by the late notice which meant he had been unable to secure a stall at other festive events.
Make It York said an unprecedented number applications had led to a week's delay in notifying traders of the outcome.
Malcolm is an agent for Rowallan of Scotland, and sells leather goods as well as reindeer hide and cow hide rugs.
