YO1 Radio's Nightshift

Midnight - 6:00am

A YORK initiative to boost public safety in the centre has been boosted by the support of a leading business organisation.

The York BID Safety Network encompasses the city-wide radio network, Sentry Secure Intelligence System, and the coordination of both Pub Watch and Shop Watch schemes.

The schemes offer businesses real-time tools to report, respond to, and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.

Previously at risk of closure due to the retirement of its former coordinator, the city-wide radio scheme has now found a new home under York BID.

The BID says this transition reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to creating a safer and more secure environment for everyone in our community.

As part of the BID’s commitment to this initiative, it is offering levy-paying businesses a reduced price of £25 per month +VAT – giving an annual saving of £144!

York BID says the value of the network was recently demonstrated when a city centre shoplifting incident – resulting in the theft of over £350 worth of stock – was swiftly resolved thanks to instant communication via the radio system.
