British Transport Police said its investigation into the incident on Saturday evening (September 6) is ongoing
urging anyone with information to contact the force.
The force said police officers and paramedics were called to the scene at 6.15pm on Saturday following the reported assault.
Photographs of the scene show a police cordon surrounding an area close to the station’s main entrance from Station Road.
An eyewitness told The Press on Saturday night that the incident looked to have been a “serious assault”.
The cordon had been lowered by around 8.10pm.
Access to the station was not restricted, with the public able to enter the building from the other entrances while the cordon was in place.
