Two community groups in York are both celebrating after netting donations from a city developer.
Persimmon, who have their headquarters in Fulford, have donated £6,000 to 1st Holgate Scout Group who have successfully raised enough money to buy a brand-new minibus after their old vehicle was no longer deemed roadworthy.
The group based at Holgate Methodist Church raised enough for the new minibus which has been named Bus Lightyear by the young troop.
Fundraising lead Simon Taylor said on behalf of 1st Holgate Scouts said: “The generous donation from Persimmon pushed us over the line to be able to purchase a new much-needed minibus for our Scout Group.
“We have nearly 300 young people in 1st Holgate and this will allow our Squirrels, all the way up to our Explorer group to enjoy a variety of activities such as climbing, camping and events further afield from York.”
