Discover the Magical Owl Trail at Shambles Market

Wander through the charming Shambles Market and uncover the Magical Owl Trail, where a family of owls is hiding among the stalls. Running from 24 May to 1 June, this delightful quest invites families to track down every hidden owl and complete the trail. 

Finish the quest for a chance to win a Family Wizard Tour with the award-winning Wizard Walk of York - an experience packed with magic, comedy, and a sprinkle of York’s rich history. It's the perfect mix of fun and fantasy for wizards of all ages!

WizardFest makes its spellbinding debut

York will host its very first WizardFest from 24 to 26 May, conjuring up magical entertainment throughout the city. Supported by Make It York and led by the acclaimed Wizard Walk of York, winner of Experience of the Year at the Visit York Tourism Awards, WizardFest promises immersive experiences, family-friendly fun, and plenty of surprises.

Magical face painting

Transform into a magical creature with themed face painting at Shambles Food Court, available from 24 to 26 May. A perfect way for young witches and wizards to get into the spirit!

Step into the Magical Night Market at Shambles Market

For one night only on 26 May from 7.30pm to 10pm, Shambles Market will be transformed into a Magical Night Market - a twilight wonderland filled with lights, laughter and local delights. Enjoy sizzling hot food, and browse the unique, local traders where you can pick up everything from handmade gifts, home decors and more gifts. With a welcoming, family-friendly environment, the event promises a vibrant and inclusive evening for all.

Shop, eat and explore at Shambles Market

When it’s not enchanted by night, Shambles Market is open daily, offering everything from artisan crafts and fresh flowers to stylish accessories and one-of-a-kind gifts. 

Head to the Shambles Food Court for a flavour-packed experience. Open every day, it serves up street food from around the globe - including vegetarian and vegan options. From North African and Middle Eastern dishes to Thai street eats, bagels, and gourmet sandwiches, there’s a delicious discovery around every corner. 

The historic Shambles Food Court is at the heart of York’s vibrant community – a place where people connect and businesses grow. Back by popular demand, THOR’S Tipi will return from 23 May, bringing cosy vibes, an all-new drinks menu, and a buzzing atmosphere to Parliament Street. Enjoy live music, local street food - including crispy corn dogs and loaded gyoza from YUZU Street Food - and a new, flavour-forward menu crafted by Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks. The magic doesn’t stop there - THOR’S will also be popping up at The Milner York from 16 May, serving up more good vibes and unforgettable experiences.
